FoRMA/PE - Description of concepts

This report is one part of the work conducted jointly by FOI (Swedish Defence Research Agency) and FMV (Defence Materiel Administration) in the field of Precision Engagement (PE) during the year 2000. It describes how the precision engagement capability can be developed in view of foreseen trends in technology, security policy and possible tasks for the Swedish Armed Forces. The concepts described in this report are preliminary and should be regarded as examples of how the Swedish Armed Forces can be niched to meet different threats, tasks and environments beyond 2020. Some concepts include major parts of the Swedish Armed Forces, others can be combined to form more complete concepts. All concepts are based on the idea of network centric warfare. The concepts are not necessarily examples of tasks the Swedish Armed Forces should have in the future. They are examples of the broad range of tasks that can be possible, and to some extent probable, in the future. They are one basis for choosing how to develop the Swedish Armed Forces in the future.
