Unattended groundsensor network

This report summarises the current progress of the work conducted by FOI and FMV (Swedish Defence Material Administration) for FoRMA in the field of Unattended groundsensors. The main focus of the report is on unattended ground sensors manually placed on ground and linked together with a communication network. The report includes description of technical possibilities and limitations for implementations of ground sensor systems in the time period 2005 to 2010. Possible sensor types as well as sensor data fusion and telecommunication in sensor networks is also discussed. A survey of international activities in the unattended groundsensor area has been initialised by visiting THALES in England. The group have developed system descriptions for single sensors, multisensors and sensor system level. The development of system descriptions will continue to include systems for different surveillance tasks.
