Abstract

This report describes and analyses aspects of the industrial development related to the investments in network defence systems in North America, Europe and Israel. The report identifies a small number of companies who dominate the industry. There is an emerging trend that companies with a commercial technology base gain increased presence in network-defence projects. The industrial structures that emerge are industrial networks with several companies organised around big defence corporation collaborating in consortia. The common term for the central actors in networks is Lead System Integrators. A possible industrial development may be break-up of large defence companies and emergence of more specialised defence firms - e.g. with focus in research and development, manufacturing or systems integration.
