Abstract

Results from ETC-studies at FOI Weapons and Protection during 2005, are presented in this report. This ETC research has changed emphasis towards electrothermal initiation (ETI) during 2005. ETI is approaching implementation in weapon systems and is thereby expected to result in complete applications in the near future. Some final experiments concerning the ETC concept "the conducting flame" (CF) have been performed. A summary of the results from CF experiments up to now is given in the report. In parallel with the CF-experiments, preparations for the ETI-experiments have been started. An experimental setup is under construction to be able to study the influence of different parameters on the initiation process. To be able to give adequate starting parameters for these ETI-experiments it is also necessary to be able to model the initiation process. Both the efforts in creating a computer model for the initiation process and the construction of the experimental setup is described in the report.
