Abstract

Modelling of spectral imaging sensor systems is considered. First, monochromatic imaging systems are modelled with respect to nonuniformity correction, photon shot noise, dark current noise and influence from internal instrument radiation. The modulation transfer function and resulting detector size dependent image blur is detailed. Finally, two imaging spectral instruments are compared, a dispersive instrument and an interferometric instrument. Results from this comparison indicates quite similar performance from different solutions.
