Abstract

The project "Anläggningsskydd med fokus på internationella insatser" includes activities dealing with fortification protection. The main task is to evaluate different types of protection against various types of weapons in order to support the Swedish Armed Forces in decisions concerning protective structures. During 2010 and 2011 (the project ends in 2012) the project has focused mainly on fragments. Characterization of fragments of shrapnel warheads is fundamental to understand how the protective structures is affected when such warheads are used. A brief summary of the areas of interest that the project has worked with, fragments of shrapnel included, in 2011 are Fragment characterization Numerical calculation of FSP against ductile steel Experimental shooting of FSP against ductile steel Numerical calculation of nearfield airblast from 15.5 cm artillery shell m/77 Course in mechanics of penetration at South West Research Institute, San Antonio, USA Collaboration with South West Research Institute, San Antonio, USA, regarding Behind Helmet Blunt Trauma Conferense "Robustness of Structures", Prag, Tjeckien Meeting with "Samverkansgruppen"
