Conditions for innovation and growth in small- and medium-sized enterprises in the defence- and security sector

The purpose of this study is to investigate the conditions for innovation and growth in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the defence- and security sector. The study was carried out by on the one hand mapping different policy factors in Sweden and in EU concerning SMEs' innovation and growth and on the other hand conducting a survey of SMEs in the defence- and security sector. Taken together, increased knowledge and understanding of the conditions of SMEs in the studied sector was gained. The result from this study identifies areas that can be improved and thereto related recommendations. These recommendations concern the conditions in the following: 1) export activities and bilateral cooperation, 2) talent management, and 3) involvement in clusters and business networks.
