Abstract

In tactical mobile ad hoc networks, many of the services used generate broadcast traffic. A typical example of such a service is distribution of position information. The ability to handle broadcast traffic in tactical mobile ad hoc networks generally puts high demands on the communication protocols used, primarily due to the high mobility. In this report we show, using simulations, that a system built on the technology called synchronized cooperative broadcasting can fulfill the stated traffic requirement according to the TGR specification in a tactical scenario. Further, it is shown that the proposed solution can handle additional traffic load, on top of what is required in TGR. By adding additional traffic load in the network it is estimated how much additional traffic the system can handle in the given scenario. The results show the capacity gained by choosing a solution based on synchronized cooperative broadcast for the given scenario.
