Abstract
The three-year project Signature measures started in 2020, with the aim of providing the Swedish Armed Forces with new knowledge about how different signatures affect units' stealth ability against various threat sensors. The objective is to build relevant competence for the evaluation of unit signatures and decoys and to be able to support the Swedish Armed Forces and The Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) in the procurement process. The long-term goal is to develop methods that can be used to optimize a unit's stealth capability. Unit signatures in different environments and tactical contexts have been studied, as well as methods to achieve a controlled and balanced signature, e.g., through the tactical use of dummy targets. Furthermore, methods and assessment tools were investigated to identify weaknesses and make trade-offs between protection - effectiveness - mobility. Activities during the project period are reported, as well as international contacts, e.g. collaboration with Finland and within the framework of NATO STO (Science and Technology Organization).
