Abstract

The command and control support system SLB has been used in exercises since 1999 while continuously under development. As a part of this development, data has been collected to evaluate the usefulness of the system. This report brings up three exercises where analysis of questionnaires for subjective evaluation, logging of system interaction and radio communication data collection try to give a picture of the system and its continuing development. Results from the subjective reports suggest for example that correct functionality and speed are aspects considered more important than graphic design and learnability, which gives a general and fundamentally important guideline for future design decisions. Interaction logs suggest possible areas for improvement including navigation issues in the map part of the system, and that there are great differences between users of the system. Analysis of the collected communication data provides a picture of the information flow and needs. Important results here are to show what information that the system should give support to handle and what sub functions the system has to comprise considering specific information needs.
