This report summarises the results from the fiscal year 2003 within FOI research area of NBC-defence. The report gives a survey of the ongoing activities, the extent and directing of the area and the national and international development in the field of NBC-defence. During 2003 FOI has for example - Studied and analysed the international development in the NBC-area and reported to the Government and authorities concerned - Supported United Nations by having an employee placed in the head office in New York and carry out work with analysis and assessment of the Iraqi chemical weapons program - Signed a contract concerning multilateral cooperation within WEAG regarding methods for detection of B-agents - Preformed research and development on radioanalytical methods for detection of plutonium and radioactive xenon - Performed research and developed methods for assessment of LLR-threats and for retrospective radiation dose assessment - Participated in two international interlaboratory calibration studies concerning analysis of C-agents and toxins - Performed research on B-agents with the objective to develop new methods of treatment and vaccine.
