Abstract
LORAM 2004 is an airborne radar experiment which will be conducted by ONERA and FOI during the period September to October 2004. The objective is to evaluate airborne SAR (synthetic aperture radar) and GMTI (ground moving target indication) for detection of stationary and moving ground targets. The experiment will include the French airborne radar RAMSES, which is operated by ONERA, and the Swedish airborne radars CARABAS and LORA which are operated by FOI: - RAMSES will have two installations with SAR and GMTI: one in P/L band, and one in P/X band. - The CARABAS SAR will operate in the frequency band 25-85 MHz. - The LORA SAR and GMTI will operate in the 200-800 MHz band. Detection performance will mainly be evaluated for vehicle targets under vegetation concealment, but targets in the open will also be studied. The experiment will be conducted at the Swedish Army training camp P4 Kvarn where the targets will be deployed. Forest clutter statistics will be investigated under controlled conditions in the forestry park Remningstorp located in Västergötland.
