Abstract
This report presents testing of a light tube valve designed by The National Fortifications Administration (FORTV) and named "Light tube valve". The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) performed the testing. The earlier tube valve named SV110-116, resisted air blast up to 2,0 MPa very well. The light tube valve, which also consists of modules, is intended to add to FORTV selection of rapid closing valves for shock waves with low pressure. The testing of the light tube valve was done in shock-tube IV of FOI in Märsta just north of Stockholm and verify that the valve with some smaller adjusting can resist air blast loadings up to 1,0 MPa, although the deformation of both tubes and other parts of the valve were noticeable large. During the testing also tubes with thinner thickness of material was used. The thinner tubes got considerably larger deformations but no difference in time for closing or inlet pressure and impulse could be found.
