BA rescue - a task analysis

To understand how fire fighters work two parallel task analyses were performed. One of the analyses focused on the tasks of the fire fighter in charge of the team while the other analysis described how the fire fighter team work. The two analyses´ complete each other in describing how fire fighters work. The task analytical method that was chosen was Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA). Interviews were conducted to get insight into the fire fighters work. After this the fire fighters were observed during practice. The interviews and observations were composed into HTA-charts and descriptions of the fire fighters work. Finally, an additional interview session was performed. To validate and complete the descriptions, the obtained HTA-charts were discussed together with the fire fighters.
