Abstract

Buoys for underwater surveillance are normally equipped with hydrophones. However, in shallow water electrode sensors can give some advantages. Three buoys were developed with hydrophone and three-axial electrode systems. Field trials were performed in the Stockholm-Archipelago, where detection and tracking were tested. Three different deployments strategies are given in the report as well as conclusions on the detection and tracking capability of the buoys. In summary, the electrode-equipped buoys can be used for detection but comes to their favour in determining the track of a ship.
