Abstract
The development of improved computational models for sound propagation in complicated shallow water environments is described. Two main tracks have been pursued: (i) Hybridization of a parabolic equation solver (JEPE) and a Helmholtz solver (HELM), (ii) the development of a 3D ray tracing model (MOC3D). The aim is to obtain more accurate models still at a reasonable computational cost.
