System for early warning of increased levels of radioactivity in air

The Swedish Defence Research agency, FOI, has constructed a system for early warning in the case of increased radioactivity levels in the air. The system works as a complement to the since long existing national surveillance system of airborne radioactivity operated by FOI. This supplementary system denoted "Early Warning", measures the activities collected on filters during sampling. If the measured values exceed definite limits a SMS text message is sent to the Swedish Radiation Protection Authority, SSI, and to FOI.
