Abstract
The Corps, with components from all NATO countries bordering the Baltic Sea, constitutes an important actor in the military co-operation in the area. Its main task, up til now, has been to facilitate the integration of new members in to the alliance. Latly the Corps has shifted focus towards international operations. The training spans from crisis management, support to the cicil society to peace operations. Swedish participation in the activities of the Corps could be a way of enhancing the co-operation with our nearest neighbours around the Baltic, and at the same time give Swedish officers, working in the Corps HQ, the possibility to: train in an multinational environment enhance their knowledge of NATO staff procedures get experience of working at a division and corps level. It would also give Swedish officers a deeper insight in how our neighbours look at their security challenges. The Corps could also serve as a framework for training of Swedish units and their participation in different peace operations.
