Abstract

The importance of basing systems development on a solid needs and requirements analysis cannot be underestimated. In other case, the risk is immediate that the developed systems will not correspond to the expectations and actual needs. The TEBE project, an acronym for "Technical decision support" aims at, based on the user needs, exploring what functionality should be included in the Swedish Armed Forces technical decision support intended for military operations in urban terrain. The specific objective of the study described in this report is to compile the needs of and the requirements on the technical decision support for military operations in urban terrain identified during the first year of the TEBE project. The study was implemented in seven steps; (1) Data collection, (2) Identification of statements, (3) Identification of needs, (4) Analysis and structuring of needs, (5) Prioritization of needs, (6) Development of use cases and specification of requirements, and (7) Structuring of requirements. There were 80 statements identified as relevant for further needs analysis. Based on these statements, 97 needs were identified. After the prioritization of these needs, 22 use cases were developed, and from which 99 functional respective 81 non-functional requirements were identified. The result of the study is intended as a foundation for the continued work in TEBE project.
