Out of area missions require knowledge about the weapon threat in the area. High explosive fragmenting warheads for artillery, and their penetration performance in protective coverings, are discussed in the report. Recommendations for future work to improve the ability to estimate the penetration performance of HE fragmentation warheads against current and future protective designs are discussed.
