Trust and security in netcentric data fusion

In a new model, security and safety are important premises for system trust. This model motivates analyses of security and safety aspects on some current fusion applications. In this report, security and safety aspects are put on fusion operations where different kinds of far-range sensors at multiple platforms cooperate. In these kinds of systems, one system component with high degree of vulnerability is the network itself, motivating a special analysis of trust in mobile ad hoc networks. Risks as well as security mechanisms are discussed, and examples of risk reducing security mechanisms are presented. The discussion of security mechanisms is connected to current ideas concerning security solutions in the LedsystT project.
