Abstract
The report presents results from a preliminary study regarding FMCW-radar in short-range through-the-wall applications. This includes coherent radar methods to detect moving humans or, if the human is stationary, moving body parts. The measurement dimensions correspond to range and range speed. The total radar system studied comprises several receiving channels arranged in a 2-dimensional monopulse configuration for determining the target direction. The resolution capabilities are studied in the free space case for different parameters of the linear FMCW-waveform and certain simple target cases. The range capabilities are studied for some simple cases for different wall thicknesses and material types.
