Abstract
The aim for the three year project COmmunications AssessmenT, COAT, is to gain knowledge and to develop a methodology for assessment of the often complex communication solutions for command and control systems. A part of the project goal is to conduct a survey and identify existing methods and tools that could be useful for an assessment team. In this report we describe what methods and tools we have investigated and what we have found useful to be incorporated into our own development. The report does also give a brief summary of our impressions from the ICCRTS conference and the PfP-exercise Combined Endeavour. The methodology developed by the COAT-project is based on our experience, but also inspired by the method and tools described in this report. The parts we have used are from many of the described methods, but in most cases, we have adapted them to fit our purpose of assessment of communication systems that supports command and control functions.
