This document describes MERLIN, an architecture for component based simulation models, developed at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) for FMV. The architecture denes a set of interfaces for assembling and interacting with components, and services that can be used by models and applications using MERLIN. Important subsystems of the architecture are the Object Factory used for creating simulation objects and the centralized environment simulation.
