Abstract
FOI is investigating the feasibility of hard kill countermeasures for aircraft attacked by missiles in the rear sector. In a first part of this study AVAL lethality simulations were carried out using an anti-tank missile model for the attacking missile. Although this could be acceptable for a first study, a more representative model is of course needed for a more detailed study. Therefore, the present AVAL model of a generic radar-guided air-to-air/surface-to-air missile as described by this report has been designed to be used in the hard kill countermeasures study, and also for other air combat studies. This documentation describes the components and damage phenomena included in the first version of the target description. With the creation of this target description it is now possible to go on with the next phase of the hard kill countermeasures study.
