Abstract

In order to characterize the debris after an explosion inside an ISO container a series of tests were made on behalf of the KLOTZ Group. The tests were performed in cooperation between Norwegian Defence Estates Agency and Swedish Defence Research Agency. The intention was that the data should be used for development of the KG-Engineering Tool, a code used to calculate the debris distribution after an explosion in an ammunition magazine. The test program comprised three tests with 100 kg charges inside containers. During the tests the blast pressure was recorded at different distances and several high speed video cameras were used to record the initial break-up of the container and the trajectories of the debris. After the tests the debris was collected, weighed, photographed and catalogued. This report describes the test arrangements and the experimental results are presented.
