Prior to procurement of camouflage paint for the ground arena FOI has developed a basis for establishing requirements. A historical study of Swedish paints has been performed. Collection of international documents provides a picture of other countries' views on the requirement for paint systems. Four example backgrounds have been studied: taiga, jungle, arctic and urban. The spectral regions considered include ultraviolet, visual and near infrared. As well as permanent camouflage paint the study has considered temporary camouflage white paint for the ultraviolet spectra. A method for establishing requirements, is presented, that can be used to extract relevant information from a large amount of information. The report concludes with recommendations on how the work should be continued.
