Abstract

There are a number of ways to implement effects of plume rise in stochastic particle dispersion models. FOI has been commissioned by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority to conduct a literature review and based on this, implement plume rise effects in the stochastic particle models developed and used at FOI. As a first step a method based on the half-empirical formulas developed by Briggs (1975 and 1985) and adjusted by Arya (1999) and Beychok (2005) has been implemented. The implementation is valid for bent over continuous plumes.
