Abstract

This report provides a summary of the work within the project Tools for information fusion and analysis during 2013, the first year out of three. The aim of the project is to build and transfer knowledge to the Swedish Armed Forces about data driven intelligence analysis. In discussions with end users, a need for using data driven analysis to assess the trustworthiness of information on the Internet was identified. An activity to meet this need has been initiated. In parallel, research has been performed together with analysts within FOI to study Russian military capability. A tool has been implemented that automatically extracts information about exercises from news sources on the web, enabling the analysts to perform quantitative studies on this. The project shares finances and research activities with a number of EU and EDA projects. During 2013 the areas of collaboration include multi hypotheses management, heterogeneous fusion, analysis of social media, anonymisation, and risk assessment.
