Abstract

Electromagnetic effects from charged particles produced by high altitude nuclear explosions are discussed from their impact on military and civilian infrastructure. The spread of weapon debris are discussed together with the formation of temporary radiation belts as well as how photons and charged particles may cause electromagnetic effects in the atmosphere. The focus is on signal attenuation and electromagnetic pulse.
