Abstract
In this project, research and development regarding dispersion calculations of hazardous substances in air, soil and water has been carried out. Results from computational models are designed to provide support to the armed forces, civilian authorities and other research activities within the FOI. The aid may be exemplified as decision support information through specific calculations or as software that can be part of other systems, on the other hand constitute independent knowledge support. By simulating the dispersion process, a dispersion event is studied with respect to how it develops, the impact on the environment and any adverse effects in the short and long term, although actual events can be studied at a later time to give additional understanding of a particular type of event. During the project period, the research and development has been carried out for local, meso-scale and global dispersion models. In addition to these, the development of inverse scattering models is conducted, models for uncertainty estimates and also the development of experimental setups for dissemination of dispersion of B-agents in soil has been carried out. Studies of scenarios where the dispersion of CW agents included have been implemented is presented. The transport of deposited CW agents on land and water down to the groundwater has been studied. The scope is broad but it also provides an ability to deal with different questions for different issues that may arise for the Swedish Armed Forces, civilian authorities and FOI.
