Abstract

Explosions that occur in more or less confined rooms usually cause significantly greater damage than if they occur outdoors. There is a need to be able to analyse the effects of and protection against detonations of conventional weapons detonating inside different structures in different contexts. It is valuable to use advanced numerical calculation tools for such analyses. It is crucial for the confidence of such calculation tools to be calibrated against results from practical experiments. The present report summarizes the practical experiments carried out with fully or partially contained explosions carried out at FOA / FOI over the past 30 years. The compilation is intended to be a guide in selecting reference experiments that can be used in calibration of calculation tools for different applications. The idea is also that the compilation should be a guide if necessary for any supplementary experiments that may be required.
