Abstract
This report discusses the growth in the infrastructure of the Swedish Armed Forces, more specifically, the re-establishments of regiments during the period 2021-2030. The focus for this report is the planned growth in the form of re-establishments in Kristinehamn, Falun, and Sollefteå including Östersund. It is important that the Swedish Armed Forces receives the necessary support in order to reach the objectives, i.e. re-establishing mentioned regiments during the period 2021- 2025 and for these military units to reach full capacity during the period 2026-2030. The results show that the upcoming re-establishments are likely to take longer than the re-establishment in Gotland, which took around five years. The conclusion is that expected time for a re-establishment of a regiment, regarding infrastructure, is between five and ten years. Since the most recent public review of defence infrastructure presented its findings in 2013 and due to a deteriorated security situation, it is recommended to initiate a new public review of defence infrastructure. Meanwhile it is recommended to take actions for a more strategic management and to instruct the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Fortifications Agency to plan for other re-establishments and to map out conditions for re-establishments in places with current training fields.
