Abstract

Assessment of command and control (C2) systems is a task that is both timeconsuming and difficult to define. For assessment of C2 systems, one or several assessment methods are needed. A literature review was performed, with the objective of mapping scientifically described methods for assessment of C2 systems. In the literature review, 63 assessment methods considered usable for assessment of C2 systems were identified. The methods were categorized in the following 14 different focus areas: workload, decision support, interface, human error, communication, performance, resilience, risk analysis, collaboration, sensemaking, situation awareness, team situation awareness, team work, and methods with more than one focus. The results of the review can be used as a foundation for assessment of C2 systems. For example by descriptions of methods that can be used for assessment of different aspects. Further work will include further mapping and design of a methodology for assessment of C2 systems.
