Abstract

The purpose of this project is to increase the ability to evaluate sensor systems that uses artificial intelligence (AI). Within the project an existing tool for simulating sensor systems with AI algorithms was further developed. The simulation tool used is MSSLab that can emulate sensor data from a number of different sensor systems in various environments, weather conditions and times. Accurate simulations of sensor data requires that all models, such as terrain models, target objects, material classifications, scene simulations and sensor models, are of high quality. A multi-year effort is underway to refine model after model. This report describes the status of the work with vehicle simulation, scene simulation and sensor models in MSSLab. Image and signal processing algorithms was integrated into MSSLab such as target detection, target recognition, target tracking and sensor control. These were then used to study reconnaissance from combat vehicles and RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems).
