Abstract
This report summarizes the work performed within FoT Aeronautical Systems, project Platform Analysis during 2023. Project Platform Analysis shall maintain and develop the capability for aeronautical analyses of airborne platforms, as basis for the assessment of capabilities of threat systems, effectors, and model development. Manned and unmanned combat aircraft are especially considered to support study efforts for future Swedish combat aircraft capabilities. During 2023, the project has studied a small generic loitering munition platform, simulation and analysis of propeller dynamics, as well as data driven modelling of aircraft aerodynamics. The effects of hidden details on radar signatures were studied, and an evaluation of how well different analysis methods capture those effects was performed. The project has also studied methods for the assessment of platform concepts, with the purpose of strengthening FoT expert support regarding concept generation and assessment of airborne platforms to Swedish Armed Forces studies. A common concept development and assessment process within FoT Aeronautical Systems was initiated in cooperation with the Swedish Armed Forces, Swedish Defense Material Administration and FOI. During 2023, the project has financed participation in the international collaboration projects AG60 within GARTEUR as well as AVT-318 and AVT-390 within NATO STO.
