In the field of security policy studies, our research covers countries, regions, and multilateral organisations. We focus our research on Russia, the Nordic countries, Euro-Atlantic security, Africa and Asia. As a complement to security analysis, we also conduct strategic studies of political, economic and military developments, as well as policy-relevant themes.

FOI has unique knowledge in the field of peace support operations, an integral part of Sweden's foreign and security policy. We conduct studies on international and multifunctional operations, civil-military cooperation and the roles of international and regional actors, as well as emerging concepts for peace support operations. FOI also continuously monitors and evaluates the international peace support operations in which Sweden participates.
