Abstract

This report describes a method to assess how the integration of different subsystems affects the properties of ground vehicle. The assessment method is an aggregation of more detailed simulations or experimental results that can be used to provide an overview of the vehicle properties and identify any need for more detailed analysis. Included in the report is an example of how to apply the method for an integration of high power microwave weapons as well as conventional kinetic weapons for defeating a hostile unmanned aerial vehicle, UAV. The modelling of the weapon systems provides the basis on how to assess the extent of the integration, for example the weight and volume of the installation or how much ammunition is required. The impact of the integration on the ground vehicle properties are assessed based on the three main capabilities of firepower, mobility, protection, which are evaluated using approximately thirty criteria graded on a five-point scale. The method has been shown to clarify the change in the properties of the ground vehicle and provides a good overview. The main challenge in the application of the method is related to the assessment of the criteria and the provision of input to the assessment itself.
